LEDs powered with 1.5V

This circuit drives LEDs with a 1,5V battery. Very useful to build a small torch light with a bright white LED. Even "dead" batterys work down to 0,7V. With germanium transistors down to 0,3V. At full brightness.

i think the most simple idea is a single transistor joule thief. If you are afraid about the needed transformer, its working with 30:30 air windings can it be more simple?

A nice thing. But does not work, if i replace the bulb with a LED. But that was the idea: Driving a LED with very low voltage.

Arround xmas they bring 1000ns of keyring flashers, selling them srround city centres.. Git this cct. From one of them.. They hsve bulbs, wierd, i suppose mass produce, its cheaper than led...
