Top left input represents weak fiber optic signal. Bottom left represents a pulsing laser. The AND logic gate represents a COUPLER to combine the two light signals and output through a fiber optic line. The fiber optic loop (which is round) has erbium coating which stores laser energy and amplifies ALL light signals 10,000 times.   Amplify light by adding erbium (Er), say as (ur bee uhm) a chemical element, a rare-earth metal of the lanthanide series of the periodic table inside loop of fiber optic to amplify all weak signals. Pure erbium is a silvery white metal that is relatively stable in air. Most anything can be made from glass and the Corning Museum of Glass at Corning, New York is a museum I would recommend others see. Roman glass work around 50 C. E. - Jesus Christ's day - was more advanced than I ever would have thought.
